Chapter 85 Drones, Enemy Attack
Chapter 85 Drones, Enemy Attack
Lu Ye had just finished replying to Gray Wolf in the channel when, with the blessing of [Perception LV1], he heard a very faint buzzing in his ears.
His expression changed, and he immediately moved the SVCh away from the scope, listening intently for another second.
They are rotorcraft, at least four.
Moreover, the direction was very clear; it was heading straight for his sniper position.
Although he had changed positions, he was still relatively close to the sniper position he had just been in.
"Damn it." Lu Ye cursed under his breath, pressing his earpiece. "Enemy drones detected overhead, multiple of them, heading straight for my sniper position."
The gray wolf's voice immediately rang out: "Number?"
"Four to six planes, and there might be more. The distance is too close. I have to retreat."
The female officer immediately said, "Withdraw. Don't stop at a high position."
Lu Ye had already begun to holster his gun: "I know."
Several dark figures cut across from above the ridge.
They don't fly very high or very fast, but their formation is very loose.
Lu Ye didn't look back. He grabbed SVCh, slid down the back of the rock, landed on his toes, lowered his body, and continued down the ridge.
The next second, the first drone flew over the rock where he had been standing.
A soft "snap!"
Immediately following was an explosion.
Gravel and dirt were blown up, and the sniping position where Lu Ye had been lying was now a mess.
"It's not reconnaissance, it's a bomber," Lu Ye said as he ran. "They've covered my sniping spot."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a second explosion rang out beside another rock.
Lu Ye understood instantly.
They were conducting saturation bombing by region.
The enemy doesn't need a precise location; they just need to bomb the entire high ground.
"Iron Eagle, can you see the drone above my head?" Lu Ye asked.
Iron Eagle's voice quickly came through: "The Sea Eagle-10's camera feed is here, I'm watching. The enemy has five quadcopters, two carrying bombs, one suspected to be an FPV, two for observation, and one behind them."
"Six?" Gray Wolf cursed.
"Six confirmed." Iron Eagle spoke quickly. "They've spotted you and are spreading out, trying to block your retreat route."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ye immediately changed direction, abandoning his original plan to move towards the side of the bunker, and instead lunged towards a lower gully of gravel.
"Lu, where are you retreating to?" the female officer asked.
"We can't move towards the side of the bunker." Lu Ye's breathing became noticeably heavier. "I need to get out of their sights first."
He had barely finished speaking when the buzzing above his head suddenly subsided.
One of the drones has already caught up.
Lu Ye did not look up, but judged the distance by the sound he sensed.
He rushed between two dead trees, pushed off with his left foot, and plunged into a shallow pit behind a fallen log.
"Pfft." Another sound of a bomb being released.
As Lu Ye fell, he rolled to the right at the same time.
"boom!"
A small fragmentation bullet struck the spot where he had just lunged, sending dirt and wood chips flying. Several fragments hit his backpack and the bulletproof plates on his shoulders with a few muffled thuds.
"I'm being watched." Lu Ye remained calm.
The gray wolf asked, "Are you still capable?"
"It can run."
Lu Ye flipped over the fallen log and continued to descend rapidly using the reverse slope.
He stopped running with his gun on his back and instead carried the SVCh in one hand, lowering his center of gravity.
At night in the mountains, carrying a gun can cause it to snag on tree branches, slowing down turning.
Through the earpiece, Iron Eagle continued to report the situation.
"There's an FPV circling on the outer edge, not diving yet. It's waiting for you to expose yourself to open ground."
"There's a shallow ditch about 30 meters to your left, with a thicket of bushes at the end. Once you're inside, you'll lose sight of the view from above for two to three seconds."
"I saw it."
Without hesitation, Lu Ye slid directly into the shallow ditch.
But the moment he cut in, a sense of danger spurted at him again.
Lu Ye suddenly exerted force with his feet, and instead of rushing forward, he lunged diagonally towards the ditch wall.
At the same time, a dark shadow rushed straight past.
"Boom!" The FPV crashed into the ditch wall, and the explosion shook the entire shallow ditch.
Lu Ye was thrown against a rock by the blast wave. His left arm went numb, and he heard a brief buzzing in his ears, but he was still conscious.
"Damn it." He wiped the dirt off his face. "FPV is gone?"
Iron Eagle stared at the screen: "One drone has been confirmed to have self-destructed. There are also two observation drones searching for you. The two that completed their bombing runs have already returned, and there's one more bombing drone."
"I can't look at the front anymore." Lu Ye pressed down on his earpiece.
Gray Wolf said in a deep voice, "Understood. Leave the rest to us."
Almost at the same time those words were spoken, Lynx's voice suddenly rang out in the channel.
"Enemy approaching from the rear! Eight men! Night vision equipment, traversing mountain gullies, their coordination is very professional!"
Vasily quickly added, "They're not ordinary infantry, they're assault teams. They're advancing in two columns, three on the left, three on the right, with machine gunners and commanders behind them!"
-----------------
Behind the bunker, the lynx lay behind a low rock, its breathing even.
"I saw them," he said in a low voice. "Dark vision, helmet lights off, two men in front with silenced carbines, and the one behind with a short machine gun. There's another one on the right with a big backpack, like a breacher."
Vasily crouched behind a tree root on the other side, his gun already aimed at the exit of the ravine.
"They wanted to get within 20 meters," Vasily said, "to throw grenades first and disrupt their formation."
I'll count to three.
"OK."
"3.2.1."
Both grenades were released from the hand at the same time.
One was thrown towards the mouth of the ravine, and the other was thrown in front of the detour line on the right.
The enemy reacted quickly.
Upon hearing the sound, the Ukrainian soldiers at the front raised their hands and made a gesture, causing the entire team to scatter to the left and right. Two men immediately fell to the ground, while the others used the terrain to lower themselves.
"Boom! Boom!"
The explosions occurred simultaneously at the mouth of the ravine and on the grassy slope to the right, kicking up soil and rocks, but did not cause the expected casualties.
"They've gotten away!" Lynx hissed.
"Keep the pressure down!"
Vasily fired first.
The AK-15 fired a short burst, directly at the enemy soldier on the left who hadn't fully taken cover behind the rock. The soldier was hit in the shoulder and rolled backward.
Lynx also pulled the trigger, and the bullet swept along the exit of the ravine, forcing the other two to keep their heads down.
But the next second, three smoke grenades were thrown out of the enemy's hands.
The smoke immediately blocked their observation line from the back door of the bunker.
"Damn it!" Lynx cursed.
As soon as the smoke rose, figures moving rapidly appeared inside.
Two men on the left crouched down to suppress the enemy's guns, while two men on the right used smoke to advance. A machine gunner in the back provided short-range suppression from a higher position, and the others circled around the ditch toward the back door.
The most fatal thing is that they change their firing positions very quickly.
A player can only fire two or three shots before moving, and there's no fixed return window.
The lynx had just peeked out when a burst of bullets slammed it back down.
"They have night vision and infrared!" he growled.
Vasily replied while shifting positions, "Don't get bogged down in battle, fight and retreat simultaneously!"
He pulled a grenade from his waist, pulled the pin, paused for half a second, and threw it out through the smoke screen towards the machine gun emplacement.
"boom!"
The explosion momentarily halted the suppressive fire on the other side.
The lynx seized the opportunity, rose up and used two short thrusts to knock down an enemy soldier who had already rushed more than ten meters away.
But a second wave of firepower immediately followed from behind the smoke screen.
Bullets struck tree trunks and earthen slopes, sending bark fragments flying everywhere.
Lynx was hit repeatedly on the shoulder by rocks, so he could only roll backward and retreat with Vasily toward the low wall near the back door of the bunker.
"Retreat to the back door!" Vasily shouted.
"receive!"
The two fought as they retreated.
The Lynx was responsible for blocking the left side of the line, only exposing half of its gun muzzle each time, and retreating after one round of pressure.
Vasily, on the other hand, positioned himself at the right angle, specifically targeting those who charged forward.
Two figures suddenly rushed out of the smoke.
One of them had just charged halfway when Vasily took him down with a double burst of fire.
Another man lunged into the ditch, and just as he was about to raise his gun, a burst of bullets from the lynx grazed the edge of the ditch, forcing him to retreat again.
But the enemy's firepower from behind was even stronger.
A light machine gun began to suppress the fire, causing the earthen wall outside the back door to crumble and the soil to fall.
The lynx, pinned down and unable to lift its head, whispered, "No, they're overwhelming us!"
Vasily immediately pressed his earpiece: "Grey Wolf! Back door backup needed! Eight-man assault team, night vision gear, already within twenty meters!"
Without further ado, Gray Wolf said, "Detonator, come with me!"
