Chapter 420 Zhang Ruoyun and Tang Yixin
The three of them walked to the door of the waiting room, and Zhang Ruoyun stopped at the door.
"Mr. Fu, I'll go in first."
Zhang Ruoyun turned to the side to say goodbye to Fu Yibai. Just as she grasped the doorknob and before she could turn around, the door was opened by someone inside.
He stumbled slightly as the door pulled him inside.
A slender, fair hand reached out from behind the door and supported him.

A woman's voice came from inside the door, clear and crisp, but with obvious panic.
Tang Yixin wore a white knitted cardigan over a light green tank top, paired with light blue denim shorts and white canvas shoes.
Her hair was tied in a low ponytail, with a few wisps of hair hanging down in front of her forehead. Her makeup was very light, so light that it was almost impossible to tell that she was wearing makeup.
Zhang Ruoyun steadied herself and met Tang Yixin's gaze.
Then he froze.
Tang Yixin only released his wrist after confirming that Zhang Ruoyun was standing firmly.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't notice there were people outside."
Zhang Ruoyun did not respond.
He stood there, one hand still suspended in mid-air in the same position as when he was being supported.
Tang Yixin felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze, so she turned her head slightly and tucked the stray hairs behind her ear.
This action caused the tips of Zhang Ruoyun's ears to turn red at a visible speed.

Zhang Ruoyun finally spoke, her voice a little dry.
Tang Yixin nodded to him, then bowed slightly in Fu Yibai's direction, before turning sideways and walking past him down the corridor toward the restroom.
Zhang Ruoyun stood still, her gaze still following that direction.
Fu Yibai glanced at him, then at Tang Yixin's retreating figure as she disappeared around the corner of the corridor, and a slight smile curved his lips.
He didn't say anything, patted Zhang Ruoyun on the shoulder, and led Zhang Xinyu into the audition room next door.
Five people were sitting behind the long table. Zheng Xiaolong was sitting in the middle, with a stack of actor information and rating sheets spread out in front of him.
Chen Xi sat to his left, twirling a pen in her hand, her notebook filled with notes.
The three assistant directors sat on either side.
A whiteboard hung on the wall, on which was written the list of roles to be auditioned today: Xu Hui, Consort Wei, Consort Yang, Consort Xiao, Empress Wang, Li Shimin, and Li Zhi.
"Director Fu? What brings you here?"
Zheng Xiaolong stood up, and Chen Xi and several assistant directors next to him also stood up.
"Just passing by, joining in the fun."

Fu Yibai sat down on the sofa against the wall, and Zhang Xinyu sat down next to him.
Zheng Xiaolong sat down again and asked his assistant to pour two cups of tea for Fu Yibai.
"How many have you confirmed?"
"As for the female roles, Consort Wei and Consort Xiao have already been decided. There are two candidates for Consort Yang and Empress Wang. We will try them out again later."
Next, I'm preparing to audition for the role of Xu Hui.
Fu Yibai nodded.
"Where's the male lead?"
"The male lead hasn't auditioned yet."
Fu Yibai picked up his teacup and took a sip.
"Director Zheng, a girl named Tang Yixin will be auditioning later."
I just ran into her at the entrance. She's a pretty girl, and her looks and temperament are quite suitable for period costumes.
After you audition, take a look and if she's a good fit, we can give her a role.

Zheng Xiaolong nodded and made a note on the data sheet in front of him.

Chen Xi flipped through Tang Yixin's information and showed the page with her photo to Fu Yibai.
"Mr. Fu, is this the one?"

Fu Yibai nodded, then added another sentence.
"Zhang Ruoyun will also come later to test Li Zhi."
"You guys check him out; if his acting is fine, then we'll cast him."
Zheng Xiaolong circled Zhang Ruoyun's information, and the assistant director next to him also wrote a few words in the remarks column.
"Alright, you guys continue, I'm just joining in the fun."
Zheng Xiaolong picked up the next document and called out towards the door, "Next."
The auditions proceeded as planned.
Although Xu Hui is only the second female lead, she has a lot of screen time, so many actors auditioned for the role, including some who are already well-known.
"Next up, Tang Yixin, auditioning for Xu Hui."
The door opened, and Tang Yixin walked in.
With a polite smile on her face, she stood in front of the long table and bowed slightly to the directors.
"Hello teachers, I am Tang Yixin, and I am auditioning for Xu Hui."
Zheng Xiaolong had her draw a scene.
She drew a monologue from Xu Hui's first visit to the palace. There weren't many lines, but she needed to portray the trepidation and anticipation of a young girl entering the inner palace for the first time.
Tang Yixin's performance was well-controlled, her pronunciation was clear, and her emotional transitions were natural.
After she finished her performance, Zheng Xiaolong didn't say much, only telling her to go back and wait for further notice.
Tang Yixin was the last one to audition for Xu Hui.
After her audition, it was time for the role of Li Zhi.
As an artist under Chenxi, Zhang Ruoyun was the first to audition without hesitation.
His performance, while not particularly amazing, was still decent enough.
After trying out a few more supporting roles, Fu Yibai watched for a while and felt they were about right.
He put the teacup on the coffee table and stood up to stretch his shoulders.
"Director Zheng, you can continue. I'll head back now."
Zheng Xiaolong stood up to see him off, but Fu Yibai waved his hand to indicate that it wasn't necessary, and then led Zhang Xinyu out of the audition room.
